1974

Sharif Esmatにより、ニューヨークのグリニッジビレッジに『SWEET BASIL』オープン
ニューヨークで最も有名なジャズクラブの1つとして多くの観客を魅了し、毎夜⾏われたセッションやレコーディングではCecil TaylorのIwontunwonsi、McCoy TynerのLive at Sweet Basil（1989）、Solar：Live at Sweet Basil、Jean-Michel Pilc TrioのLive：Sweet Basilなど、多くのジャズアルバムがSweet Basilでライブ録⾳されました。

Phyliis Litoff, Mel Litoff夫妻２代⽬オーナーに就任

1988

『SWEET BASIL』所属、Shigeyuki Kawashima & Horst Liepolt がグラミー賞のJAZZ部⾨においてプロデューサー賞を獲得

1990

尼崎勝⼠、3代⽬オーナーに就任。
